Here, where the Msandile River carves its ancient path through wilderness, we stand as guardians of both land and community
A portion of the lodge’s proceeds is directed toward conservation efforts within the Luangwa Valley, supporting initiatives that protect wildlife, habitats, and local communities. Through established regional conservation programmes, each confirmed stay contributes directly to the long-term care of Zambia’s natural heritage.
At Carmine’s River Lodge, conservation means remembering we belong to the wild - and that each mindful choice helps keep its song alive.

Partnership in Action
Through our collaboration with Conservation South Luangwa (CSL) we are part of an integrated approach to wildlife protection, resource management, and human-wildlife coexistence. CSL works in close collaboration with DNPW, local communities, and conservation partners where they prioritize community engagement alongside anti-poaching foot patrols, aerial surveillance, K9 Unit tracking and detection, and 24/7 veterinary support for both domestic and wild animals.

Protecting Zambia's Predators
The Zambian Carnivore Programme, to whom some of the proceeds of every booking goes, are actively focused on conserving Zambia’s large carnivores and the ecosystems they reside in, through science, action and strengthening local leadership.

Strength lies in the quiet act of lifting others
A rising tide lifts all boats, and lasting conservation thrives on that shared strength. When communities unite in purpose, every effort creates ripples of positive change that extend far beyond the individual. Through collective care and cooperation, a foundation is built for a more resilient environment and a brighter, more sustainable future for all.
The Chipembele Education Trust, whose work focuses on building meaningful connections between young people and the natural world,
is among the initiatives supported through the lodge’s conservation contributions. Its school-based education programmes encourage environmental awareness, responsibility, and coexistence with wildlife, helping equip the next generation to care for Zambia’s wilderness over the long term.

Community Projects & Support
We were proud participants and sponsors of the Malaila Fundraising Initiative, held in Lusaka on the 5th of July 2025. Here Funds collected are channeled towards the preservation of this annual traditional ceremony (Malaila) which plays such a critical role in the cultural lives of the local community. Protecting this heritage, as part of place, is vital.
Restoring Balance, One Tree at a Time
Zambia faces one of the world’s fastest rates of deforestation. At Carmine’s River Lodge, we support the restoration of the Luangwa Valley through thoughtful reforestation by planting trees that revive the land, capture carbon, and provide shelter for wildlife. Guests are invited to take part by planting a tree themselves, leaving behind a quiet and lasting contribution to the landscape.
